#18003 Shaolin Tai
Tzu Chang Chuan
Tai
Tzu is a very important form historically. It was created by the
first emperor of the Song Dynasty, Song Tai Tzu (Song the Founder)
who was himself an accomplished martial artist. At least this version,
unlike so many, does not claim to come directly from Song himself.
Tai Tzu Long Fist is claimed by many practitioners because of its
fame and significant history in the martial lineage. This is the
Shaolin version based on this ancient set. Demonstrated
by Shi De Ci.

#18006 Shaolin Boddhidharma Straight Sword
This
sword set is said to have been created and passed on by Da Mo (Boddhidharma)
himself which is, to say the least, pretty unlikely. The sword is
performed with some of the energy of meditation, soft, slow and
"silent." Sword technique is really advanced in all its
incarnations and requires a nimble foot and a delicate touch.
Demonstrated by Shi DeCi.

#18009 Shaolin 5
Animal 16 Techniques Style
In
the spirit of five animals, the movements of roosters, horses and
tigers are emphasized. Adopting the fighting techniques of the five
animals - the peck of the rooster, the kick of the horse, the crouch
of the tiger, the jump of the rabbit and the twist of the dragon,
created this style. Sixteen hand skills, footwork actions and kicking
arts were established based on these animals. The changing techniques
is hidden in their coordination. The movements are forceful, agile
and practical.
Demonstrated by Shi DeCi.

#18010 Shaolin QiMei
Staff
The
Shaolin "Eyebrow" Staff. After thirteen staff monks saved
the King of the Tang Dynasty, Shaolin staff became known throughout
the world. Spear always stabs but staff sweeps. The Eyebrow staff
is so called because when one end is planted the other reaches to
the practitioner's eyebrow height. When you are practicing poking,
stabbing, chopping, lifting and sweeping intermixed so it is difficult
for the opponent to predict your actions. Demonstrated
by Shi De Ci.

by Shi De Ci.

#18012 Shaolin Seven
Star Fist
This
is an essential Shaolin fist. It imitates the shape of the constellation
Big Dipper in the Northern Pole. It represents the relationship
of human beings and Heaven. While performing this set the practitioner
changes his directions in accordance with the Big Dipper. The strategy
of this boxing is to mix hard and soft to defeat the enemy. Demonstrated
by Shi De Ci.

Order #18015 Shaolin Fan Zi Boxing
Fan
Zi of course means "Tumbling Boxing" but there is little
tumbling in this Shaolin version. A fast, almost frantic, set with
some unusual swooping back kicks (Dragon Sweeps Tail), some fast
spins, very fast short hands, quick jumping actions. A fairly long
set.

Order #18016 Mountain Shaking Stick
A
fast, short set based on what we call the "Big Wheel"
roll where the hands are held about 10 inches from one end of the
staff, fist almost touching and the stick is spun like a huge wheel.
Most of this set is comprised of whipping actions, some jumps. A
lively set with few poking actions.

Order #18017 Double Spears
Two
short double heads spears (that is, four spear heads). Some great
flips in this short but very dynamic set. For double short spears
who have seen no better as of yet. Some killer moves. Much coordinated
and syncopated poking of the spears and some twirling. If you are
interested in this weapon you could do worse.

Order #18018 Tiger Boxing
Unless
you are in top shape don't even attempt this one. Some really wonderful
aerial rolls like cats leaping into the air to fight. Not much as
far as tiger actions but dragon tail kicks, jumps with 3/4 rolls,
etc. A very nice slow motion series of the form.

Order #18019 Three Sectional Stick
A
short, quick 3-part stick set with come complicated actions and
even a Drunken Fist fall. It's always hard to tell with contemporary
weapons that weight about 2 oz. because they allow some bending
of physics. But some good, coordinated rolls with the staff. This
set is distinctly based on striking the ground while rolling the
staff, an action other practices avoid.

ZhaoYang Quan
Created
in the Qing dynasty by Shaolin monk Zhangquan, Zhao Yang (Bright
Sun) Boxing is basically a leg art where the hands are used defensively
and to confuse the opponent. Cleaving to the adage, "Hands
are windows, legs are doors." The Zhao Yang applies hand actions
with speed and angular deviation to accomplish the task of expediting
the entrance of the legs. Movements are relatively simple but not
basic.

 #18021
Liu He - 6 Harmony - Duet
Said
to be developed by monk Xu NanLuo—a Shaolin Monastery kitchen attendant—set dates from the end of the Yuan/beginning of the Ming dynasties.
This is a highly stylized and very flavorful two person set. It
was taught centuries ago as the basis of real combat. Not a "show"
set it lies somewhere between practical and ritualized. Shi DeYang
talks but doesn't demonstrate and gives a rather strange explanation
of why it is called "Six Harmony", very different from
the accepted reference.
